Walk Between the Lines
My name is Martijn, I live in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and this is where I post music I like. I'm a biochemist by training, but after flunking my Ph.D., I'm now doing the whole underachieving McJob thing.

I'm editor-in-chief of Dutch music magazine KindaMuzik and sometimes I blog for progressive blog Sargasso. No politics (or anything else for that matter) here though; just music.

You can find me on Last.fm, Facebook and Twitter too.

Oh, and I'm sorry, but I don't have time to listen to or review your band's EP on Bandcamp - there are not enough people who speak Dutch to be able to make a decent living as a music journalist - but I'm sure it's excellent.

The Bevins Specials - “If I Had A Hammer” (1971)

I found a stash of Nashboro Records 45s at my old place of work and this is one of the A-sides from said stash. Though the roster of Nashboro (out of Nashville, obv.) is technically all “gospel” it actually ranges from traditional gospel, blues, soul, and r&b and intermixes it all. They had a few offshoots like Nasco, Crescent & Mankind Records and they reached more into secular music. I’m always looking for that center label and even if I’ve never heard the artist, I’ll usually give it a whirl anyway.

And the 4th vocalist who has a solo…whoa, that shit is insane.

B-side will come later today if people seem to like this one enough.
